Tax records released by the Marvel Cinematic Universe this morning revealed that female superhero Captain Marvel typically only collects 78% the amount of war spoils as her male counterparts despite regularly killing the same amount of villains.

“It is clear that there is inherent bias in the system regarding how much female superheroes are allowed to plunder from their vanquished enemies,” said film critic Don Fisher. “No matter how many alien bases Captain Marvel blows up, or how many ships she shoots down, she is still not allowed to loot as much as her male companions. I mean, just look at Batman, that guy’s a billionaire and he’s never killed anyone!”

Detractors claim that Captain Marvel is given fewer war spoils than male superheroes not because of gender bias, but because she chooses to fight against less lucrative enemies.

“Every superhero, when they’re starting off, has the option of fighting against either inter-dimensional aliens or against mad scientist billionaires bent on destroying the Earth,” said economist Tim Ramsey. “Captain Marvel happened to choose aliens whose currency isn’t even convertible to Earth money. If she wanted more money, she easily could have chosen to destroy wealthy supervillains like Lex Luthor or Dr. Doom instead.”

He added, “That’s on her.”
