The Los Angeles Lakers announced this morning that they have traded future hall-of-famer Lebron James back to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a mint condition Charizard Pokémon card.
The rare original edition holographic contains 120 HP and a Fire Spin attack that inflicts 100 damage, which Lakers head coach Luke Walton says easily makes up for the 27.5 points per game that James scored in the 2017-2018 season.
“Lebron’s a great player, but an opportunity like this only comes about once in a lifetime,” said Walton. “There have also been rumors that the Warriors are looking to acquire a Venusaur in the offseason, and everyone knows Venusaur can’t handle fire-type attacks.”
For Cleveland’s part, owner Dan Gilbert says they would have loved to hold on to the Charizard, but needed to free up some space in their salary cap.
“We really made a mistake buying it for $63 million on eBay back in 1999,” said Gilbert. “And, to be honest, I’m more of a Blastoise guy anyway.”
