JR Smith Burns Oven Roast at Cavs Team Dinner: 'I Thought Lebron Was Going to Take It Out'

Just hours after an overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers guard JR Smith forgot to set a timer on the oven at a postgame team dinner and burned the pot roast.

“I thought Lebron was going to take it out of the oven,” said Smith, clearly heartbroken. “I didn’t forget it was in there.”

With the timer running down and the table already set, Smith moved towards the oven. But rather than take out the roast as expected, he went back to the refrigerator and inexplicably began preparing creme brûlée for dessert.

“I don’t understand it, he’s usually a great cook. Sometimes he just has these mental lapses,” said Lebron James. “But I’m sure he’ll cook us a magnificent chicken cacciatore after we win Game 2.”
