Boston Marathon Fan Refuses to Let Cold Deter Him From Drinking 26.2 Beers Before Noon

BOSTON — Local student and Boston Marathon attendee Cal McDermott refused to let the blistering cold weather at yesterday’s race deter him from drinking 26.2 beers before twelve o’clock in the afternoon.

“I’ve trained all year for this. I’m not letting a little inclement weather hold me back,” said McDermott, shotgunning a beer at mile 15. “Sometimes you just gotta lower your head, open up your throat, and push through the pain.”

Friends say they were in awe when McDermott bested last year’s time of 26.2 beers in 2 hours 34 minutes, despite the rain and cold.

“I knew he put in some solid performances at November’s 10k chug-a-thon and last month’s half case race, but today’s race was just something else,” said friend Tommy Richards. “The kid’s got heart.”
