EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Struggling to free himself from the wooden barricade outside the Giants training facility, a helpless Eli Manning got his head trapped in a fence before practice this morning.
“When he gets excited he tends to stick his head into places it doesn’t belong,” said head coach Steve Spagnuolo. “It happens all the time.”
While wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. famously lost a fight to a kicking net during the 2016 season, Spagnuolo says Manning is the only player on the team who regularly gets stuck in inanimate objects both on and off the field.
“I try not to leave him by himself for more than a couple hours at a time or he gets scared,” he said, recalling a time Manning pooped on the rug after being left alone during a postgame interview. “I accidentally left him at the stadium after a game one Sunday and he got stuck upside-down in a wall locker all night.”
At press time, the Giants offensive line was attempting to pry Manning’s upper body out of a Gatorade cooler he had tried to drink out of.
